Ford Everest Raptor could happen but it’s a long shot

It could happen on one condition.

Ford has recently launched the all-new Everest midsize SUV that features a heavily revamped exterior, and a restyled interior. Aside from the fresh design in and out, the next-gen 2022 Ford Everest is also loaded with a bunch of safety and tech features.

Now that the dust has settled from the all-new Everest’s global launch, is there a possibility that Ford will also offer it with a Raptor version sometime in the future? After all, the Everest is based on the Ranger, right? Moreover, the idea of having an Everest Raptor has been floating as early as 2018.

We hate to burst your bubble but the Everest Raptor is not on Ford’s priority list as of this writing. Speaking to Philkotse.com in the SUV's media briefing before the launch, Ford Everest chief platform engineer Ian Foston confirmed that the Everest Raptor isn't on the pipeline yet. However, the Foston gave a glimmer of hope by adding that Ford isn't closing its doors to the possibility, depending on the market demand.

The possibility of seeing the Everest Raptor might be a long shot. But as a consolation, Ford isn’t closing its doors provided that there’s a strong market demand for it. Here in the Philippines, the Raptor badge is popular and has been successful so far as seen on the Ranger Raptor.

In fact, Ford Philippines announced that it has managed to sell 10,000 Ranger Raptor units as of December 2020. The Philippine market also leads the ASEAN region with a 64 percent share in total Ranger Raptor sales last 2020. The local market has also taken 37 percent market share as far as Ford’s International Market Group is concerned.

The said numbers show that the Raptor badge has a market in the Philippines, and it could also replicate the same success when offered in the next-gen Everest. Aside from the badge, the local market is also fond of seven-seater vehicles, which can be another talking point when it comes to the possibility of offering the Everest Raptor in the Philippines.

Then again, it’s a long shot. But at least, the Ford Everest Raptor isn’t completely off the table.

Access to the latest automotive news is not a long shot in Philkotse.
