Ford unveiled the Bronco Raptor earlier this year with an Ultra4 race-inspired build and an engine targeted to produce 400 horsepower. Despite not having the exact performance numbers, the Blue Oval company has already dubbed the Bronco Raptor as the most powerful street-legal version of the nameplate.

On the company’s Twitter account, Ford Motor Company President and CEO Jim Farley finally announced just how powerful the new off-roader SUV is. He said that while the target was 400 horsepower, the Ford Performance team was able to pump it up to 418 horsepower with 597 Nm of torque.
Power is drawn from a 3.0-liter EcoBoost twin-turbo V6 gasoline engine which is also seen in other Ford models such as the Ranger Raptor. In the Thai-spec Ranger, the said power unit makes 392 horsepower and 583 Nm of torque. Farley congratulated Ford Performance for solidifying the performance numbers of the Bronco Raptor.
A 10-speed SelectShift automatic transmission is used to send power from the engine to the drive wheels, working with an advanced 4x4 drivetrain. It features the brand’s exclusive G.O.A.T. Modes (Goes Over Any type of Terrain) under the SUV’s Terrain Management System. The G.O.A.T. Modes also vary the displays on the instrument cluster depending on the chosen setting, for a more immersive driving experience.

Other features that make the Ford Bronco Raptor a performance-oriented SUV include an upgraded High-Performance Off-Road Stability Suspension (HOSS) in collaboration with FOX, 37-inch BFGoodrich all-terrain tires, a fully-boxed and high-strength steel frame with shock towers, and upgraded front and rear axles.
The Ford Bronco Raptor is expected to go on sale in the U.S. market in summer 2022. Meanwhile, Ford Philippines has yet to give word on whether the new race-inspired midsize off-roader SUV will join its lineup. However, the company will still be busy with the local launch of the all-new versions of the Ranger and Everest sometime in the second half of this year.
