DPWH: Repairs for Roxas Blvd already started
A couple of days ago on February 28, 2020, the Department of Public Works and Highways, or DPWH, has started repairing several major portions of the Roxas Boulevard in Manila.
DPWH highlights projects under Build, Build, Build program
As with most major repair works here in the Philippines, this will undoubtedly cause more traffic and worse still is that this particular rehabilitation is a full-time project that will take around 6 months to complete.
Moreover, if you didn’t know already, Roxas Boulevard is a very major road leading to other major roads like the Manila-Cavite Expressway (CAVITEX) and the NAIA Expressway.
Roxas Blvd is also a coastal road popular with many "lakwatseros"
Also, there are several very important landmarks located along Roxas Blvd like the U.S. Embassy, the Japanese Embassy, the Manila Film Center, the Department of Foreign Affairs, and many others.
And of course, Roxas Blvd is constantly being used by large trucks going to and from the several piers of the Manila Port.

What’s DPWH going to fix on Roxas?
Included in the long list of repairs to be done are the improvement of drainage systems, the excavation of the old road, and the application of concrete. The said project has already started on the rightmost northbound lane on the Pasay side.
According to Engineer Mikunug D. Macud from the DPWH South Manila District, Roxas Boulevard sees faster wear and tear in comparison to other roads due to the sheer number of heavy vehicles, on top of the hundreds of passenger vehicles.
The said rehabilitation project has already received an allocation of Php 20-million for the 530-meter portion stretching from EDSA to Libertad.

Being heavily used as it is, expect more traffic in connection to the repairs
For the 500-meter section spanning just slightly before Quirino Avenue to Ocampo Street, another Php 40-million is already allocated.
Once the initial portions are completed, DPWH says that they will eventually do the same for the entire four lanes of southbound and northbound of the said boulevard.
As we’ve implied before, expect heavier traffic during the span on this construction project.
