In this update, the 2018 Equinox will become more agile thanks to a weight reduction of nearly 181 kg.
Actually, the 2018 Chevrolet Equinox was officially introduced at Los Angeles Auto Show in November last year. However, the new vehicle has made many customers disappointed and the US carmaker needs to refresh it.
This time, Chevy drops nearly 181 kg, approximately 10 percent of the Equinox’s mass. Besides this weight loss, the all-new body was designed and optimized for top safety ratings.

“Think of it as core strength training,” said Jill Dennis, the Equinox's lead development engineer, “The new Equinox’s structure is leaner yet stronger, resulting in efficient performance that inspires confidence while also creating a more fun, safe and comfortable driving experience.”

The lighter, stiffer and stronger structure offers many benefits. For instances, the strategic placement of high-strength and ultra-high strength steel in the body structure is the foundation of a robust “safety cage” surrounding passengers. Moreover, lower weight makes a difference in fuel economy: the 2018 Equinox delivers EPA ratings of 32 mpg and 29 mpg highway, respectively, for the standard 1.5L turbo and 2.0L turbo gas engines (FWD models).
