2023 Changan CS55 Plus aims to give you safer drives

Now that more vehicles are being equipped with advanced driver assist features, you get a wider array of options when looking for a safe road partner. Changan Motor Philippines, Inc. (CMPI) is making this market demand more interesting with its new compact crossover entry, the CS55 Plus.

The Changan CS55 Plus is available with the brand’s Safe-Tech, which is its version of an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS). This system offers the following features:

  • Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)
  • Integrated ACC (IACC)
  • Lane Departure Warning (LDW)
  • Lane Keep Assist System (LKAS)
  • Forward Collision Warning (FCW)
  • Traffic Jam Assist (TJA)
  • Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB)

Thanks to the working tandem of LDW and LKAS, the Changan CS55 Plus can steer itself to stay in its lane. With it, the crossover can offer you safer drives as changing a lane is one of the most common causes of road accidents.

The CS55 Plus has a well-rounded ADAS

Meanwhile, the FCW and AEB work together to avoid collisions. Both features detect obstacles in front such as slow-moving cars, a pedestrian, or large barriers. When the system assesses a possible collision, the AEB can apply braking to slow down or completely stop the vehicle.

As for the ACC, this Changan Safe-Tech feature automatically adjusts the speed of the vehicle depending on the set speed and the distance of the car in front. It works The TJA complements the ACC by offering a Stop & Go feature, allowing the latter to continue operating even after full stops.

In addition, the standard safety features include six airbags, Anti-lock Braking System with Electronic Brake Force Distribution (ABS-EBD), Traction Control System (TCS), and Hill Hold Control (HCC). It is also equipped with a 360-degree camera capable of saving recordings when the brakes are suddenly applied.

All these safety features are available in the CS55 Plus’ top-of-the-line Luxe variant, which retails at Php 1,373,000. On the other hand, the mid-spec Hype variant is priced at Php 1,283,000, which gets limited Safe-Tech features consisting of ACC, LDW, FCW, and AEB only.

Changan CS55 Plus

The Changan CS55 Plus is a compact, five-seater crossover. In the local market, this model has two different variants. There’s the entry-level Lite priced at Php 1,179,000, and the top-spec Hype which can be had for Php 1,348,000. 

Under the hood of the CS55 Plus is a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine outputting 185 horsepower and 300 Nm of torque. Power is sent to its front wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox.  

When it comes to size, this Changan model is 4,515mm long, 1,865mm wide, and 1,680mm high. It also has a wheelbase length of 2,656mm.  

Its local competitors include the likes of the Ford Territory, Honda HR-V, Mazda CX5, Geely Azkarra, Toyota Rav4, Peugeot 3008, among others.
