The company sold 1,787 units last year, a significant improvement compared to 2021 when it sold 557 units. Leading the charge is CMPI’s entry into the subcompact crossover market, the CS35 Plus, which sold 1,114 units (357 percent sales growth).

Launched in March 2022, the reworked Changan CS35 Plus joins the competition with a more striking exterior design underscored by the full-width daytime running lights (DRLs). The crossover features a taillight that runs the length of the rear end as well. Sporty-looking red accents were introduced, which enhance the model’s appeal.

But perhaps one of the biggest selling points of the CS35 Plus is its Safe-tech System. It is the brand’s advanced driver assistance system (ADAS), offering features such as Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), and Front Collision Warning (FCW).

Powering the crossover is a 1.4-liter inline-4 turbocharged gasoline engine capable of generating 160 horsepower and 260 Nm of torque. The power unit is connected to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT).

Coming on the heels of the Changan CS35 Plus in the company’s 2022 sales ranking is the Alsvin. It is a subcompact sedan that managed to sell 624 units last year. For the price that ranges from Php 629,000 to Php 739,000, the vehicle already offers a panoramic sunroof, cruise control, a rear camera, and leather seats.

Now that CMPI added more models in the closing months of 2022 with the UNI crossovers and CS55 Plus, the company has its guns out for 2023. The Changan CS55 Plus also sold 49 units last year, completing CMPI’s total sales in 2022.

“We started 2022 strong and ended the year on an even stronger note, thanks to the collective efforts of team Changan and our nationwide dealership network, backed by Changan International Corporation, our local business partners, and the growing number of believers in the brand,” said CMPI President and CEO Maria Fe Perez-Agudo.
