A piece of good news for people who have to drive or commute from Metro Manila to Taguig or Makati daily. It is believed that the C6-bound side of Taytay’s Barkadahan Bridge is going to be reopened although the Municipal Government of Taytay and DPWH has not made any official announcements.

Since the bridge is designed to connect Pasig River and Laguna Lake which extends across the Manggahan Floodway, the authority has been restless with the rehabilitation and expansion work on it.

In the past, the bridge only had 2 lanes, but after that, 2 lanes were accumulated with the addition of another parallel bridge. No sooner had the 4-lane bridge been completed than the government started to make commuters use the new 2-lane side because of the rehabilitation on the old side.

At the moment, the project seems to be accomplished and reopened since drivers can be able to utilize one of the rehabilitated lanes. Now, the traffic can make their ways from Highway 2000 to C6 and the other way without any difficulties.

Besides, it is believed that, with the expansion of the bridge at Barkadahan’s northeastern terminus, traffic in the whole area can be improved significantly.

In fact, Barkadahan bridge plays an important role in helping residents from the Eastern areas such as Taytay, Antipolo, Angono, and Binangonan travel to the Manggahan Floodway and reach Makati, Taguig, Manila, Paranaque, etc

Additionally, it is also considered an alternative route to get to both Metro's essential airport terminals in Pasay and the SLEX.

Officials stated that the bridge will officially be finished and opened just right time for holidays, by December 15th, 2019.
