Aehra reveals new images of its electric SUV

Existing automakers don’t have monopoly in the shift to electrification, as the race is open to upcoming contenders as well. Case in point: Aehra, a new Italian-American company positioned as a global ultra-premium EV brand, has released new images of its first offering.

Simply called the Aehra SUV, the model is striking not only for its aerodynamically influenced aesthetics but also its generous wheelbase measuring 3,000mm. Aehra claims this is sufficient for the vehicle to accommodate four full-size NBA players on board. 

A design that looks like it can slice through the air comes as no surprise, given the background of Aehra’s founders. Apart from being avid pilots and skydivers, Aehra Chief Executive Officer Hazim Nada and Chief Operating Officer Sandro Andreotti jointly founded Milan-based Aero Gravity, the largest indoor vertical wind tunnel in Europe. 

Unveiled in October 2022, the Aehra SUV sports a sleek profile coupled with a wide stance, giving it an imposing look without being too aggressive, thanks to the efforts of former Lamborghini design chief Filippo Perini who was responsible for the Aventador. Downturned LED headlamps combined with more lights on the lower intake give the impression of a scowl. 

A futuristic vibe is exuded by the rear portion

A-pillars mounting exterior side cameras shaped like miniature spoilers frame the windshield that seamlessly transitions to the integrated sunroof. At the back, full-width LED taillamps can be found along the spoiler and rear bumper. Two-tone multi-spoke alloy wheels mounted on low-profile tires complete the look. 

Opening the Aehra SUV’s four gullwing-style doors gives you a glimpse of its equally breathtaking interior, with seats made from aluminum, recyclable carbon fiber composite, and leather. A flat floor layout further contributes to passenger comfort with exceptional legroom, to say nothing of the vehicle’s ultra-low noise levels.

The interior is as tech-laden as it is spacious

Just above the steering yoke lies the expansive HMI (human-machine interface) screen, which can be extended upward for an immersive workspace or home theater experience when the vehicle is parked. This is complemented by a smaller touchscreen display at the center.        

Ahera is reportedly looking at a 120-kWh battery for the SUV, the largest available in a production electric car to date. This will be used to power three electric motors (one on the front axle and two at the rear) for a combined output of 805 horsepower. The Aehra SUV will be joined by a sedan counterpart by April 2023. Aehra is planning a strategic model rollout in key markets such as the U.S., Europe, and China, with deliveries expected to start in late 2025.
