MIAS 2022: Chevrolet Tahoe makes first public appearance in PH

Chevy highlights its full-size 4x4 SUV.

Chevrolet Philippines showcased the new Tahoe 4x4 SUV at the 2022 Manila International Auto Show (MIAS), marking its first public appearance in the country. The Tahoe is on display at the 2022 MIAS alongside the Trailblazer, Tracker, and Camaro.

2022 Chevrolet Tahoe 

For the Tahoe, the specific variant that was shown off during the said event was the Tahoe 4x4 Z71. In the Philippines, this trim of the Chevy-made full-size SUV is priced at Php 4,749,888, and it is available on a per order basis. Powering this full-size SUV is a 5.3-liter V8 engine capable of churning out 355 horsepower and 518 Nm of torque.

The Chevrolet Tahoe Z71

It also features an adaptive Air Ride suspension system, and an “Auto 4x4” drivetrain. It then gets plenty of safety features like automatic emergency braking, a 360-degree view camera, forward collision alert, blind-spot zone alert, lane change alert, among others. 

Style-wise, the Tahoe offers an aggressive stance with an awesome on-road presence. It rides on a set of 20-inch wheels, which are then wrapped with all-season tires. It also gets front skid plates, as well as a black-colored grille with active shutters. 

Interior features for the Tahoe Z71 include a 10.2-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a nine-piece Bose speaker system, a 10-way power adjustable seat, a tri-zone automatic climate control system, as well as a wireless smartphone charger. 

2022 Chevrolet Camaro 

Also presented at the event was the Camaro, specifically the Camaro RS variant. For the Philippine-spec version, it is priced at Php 3,298,888. Like the Tahoe, this version of the Camaro is also available on a per order basis.  

Propelling the Camaro RS is a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine that’s able to produce up to 275 horsepower and 398 Nm of torque. The said engine is then linked to an eight-speed automatic gearbox with a paddle shifter manual model.

For stopping power, the Camaro RS also comes with Brembo brakes with 4-piston calipers. It also rides on a set of 20-inch wheels, and its exterior features LED headlamps and taillights, a decklid spoiler, and plenty of Chevrolet and RS emblems.  

Aside from its athletic looks and powerful engine, the Camaro RS also ensures road safety with its wide array of safety features. Among these is a built-in reversing camera, lane change alert, side blind zone alert, rear-cross traffic alert, stability control, tire pressure monitoring, etc.

Chevrolet Tahoe

The 2024 Chevrolet Tahoe is a full-size SUV. The Philippine market has two different variants. There's the Tahoe 5.3 Z71 4WD is priced at Php 7,702,888 and the Tahoe High Country which retails at Php 8,692,888. 

Under the hood, the Tahoe for the Philippine market uses a 5.3-liter V8 engine gasoline engine. At maximum, this engine can produce up to 355 horsepower and 518 Nm of torque. It is then paired with a 10-speed automatic gearbox. It is also a 4x4 model. 

Size-wise, the Tahoe is 5,352mm long, 2,057mm wide, and 1,928mm in height. It also has a wheelbase length of 3,071mm. 

Locally, the Chevrolet Tahoe competes against the likes of the Toyota Land Cruiser, Nissan Patrol, Jeep Wrangler, and Lexus LX, among others.

The 2024 Chevrolet Tahoe was launched at the 2022 Manila International Show. The sole variant of this full-size SUV is the Tahoe 5.3 Z71 4WD.

For exterior equipment, the Tahoe gets a pair of LED headlamps flanking a grille with active shutters. It also gets a pair of power-adjustable side mirrors, LED taillights, and rain-sensing wipers. The rear also features a hands-free power liftgate. 

The Tahoe then rides on a set of 20-inch aluminum wheels.

Chevrolet Tahoe Interior

Inside, the Tahoe 2024 is a three-row SUV that can seat up to eight occupants. It has leather seats and plenty of leather-clad interior surfaces, and it comes with a jet-black dashboard, door trim, and center console.  

The front cabin also houses a 10-way power adjustable driver and front passenger seat. Keeping occupants cool is a triple-zone automatic air-conditioning system, and it also has an auto-dimming rearview mirror. 

Lastly, the second and third-row seats have a 60:40 split folding function, and all of them can be folded down automatically.  

Technology & Safety Features

For entertainment, the 2024 Tahoe Philippines gets a 10.2-inch touchscreen headunit with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Also present in a wireless charging pad, an eight-inch digital gauge cluster, and a nine-piece Bose speaker system. 

Safety for the Tahoe is then handled by a number of driver-assist features. These include a 360-degree camera, forward collision alert, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, lane change alert with side blind zone alert, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, rear cross-traffic alert, rear park assist, etc. 

Platform & Chassis

The 2024 Tahoe is a five-door, three-row, full-size SUV. It uses the GMT T1XX platform, which it shares with the Cadillac Escalade, the Chevrolet Suburban, and the GMC Yukon XL.  

For suspensions, it uses an independent air ride adaptive front and rear suspension with Magnetic Ride control. Braking is then handled by disc brakes for all four wheels, and it gets an electronic parking brake as well.

Under the hood of the Tahoe is a 5.3-liter V8 gasoline engine capable of producing up to 355 horsepower and 518 Nm of torque. It is then paired with a ten-speed automatic gearbox sending power to all four wheels.
