After all the speculations, it is now official. The 2020 Strada Athlete has been introduced by the Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation. It is without a doubt that the new Strada Athlete will do wonders in the competitive pickup truck segment considering how good looking the enhanced Strada is.
Mr. Mutsuhiro Oshikiri, president and CEO of Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation said, “We are very excited to introduce the Strada Athlete here in the Philippines as we strongly feel that the new design will appeal very well to pick-up enthusiasts.
It’s robust and sporty design best represents the capabilities of our truck. With 40 years of truck engineering heritage, the Strada has been refined to become a well-balanced road warrior that does not only conquer rough terrains but also provides advance technology, comfort, and safety to its driver and passenger.”

The black color update on its wheels, fascia, and roof made the Athlete look more stylish and sporty – not to forget the black decals that complement the black color updates really well.
There may be a ton of updates on how it looks overall, but unfortunately, the Athlete shares the same engine with the standard Strada. The Athlete runs on a 6-speed 4N15 2.4 L Inline diesel engine with Variable Geometry Turbo and Mitsubishi Innovative Valve timing Electronic Control capable of producing 181 hp @ 3,500 rpm and 430 Nm of torque @ 2,500.
If you look inside, the orange and black leather seats with orange stitchings definitely want to impress. There are black stitchings on the seats that say “Athlete.” The 2020 Strada Athlete is 5,300mm long, 1,815mm wide, and 1,795mm high with a wheelbase of 3,000mm.
Are you excited with this new "Athlete"
Another strength the new 2020 Mitsubishi Strada Athlete boasts is its off-roading capability. With the help of its off-road mode traction control feature, you can choose the best setting in your current driving conditions like gravel, mud, sand, and rocks. The Athlete has a set of 18-inch black alloy wheels with a ground clearance of 220mm.
There are two options you can choose from. First is the 4x2 variant priced at Php 1,443,000 and the other variant is the 4x4 priced at Php 1,760,000. It is not a bad choice considering the high-end variant of the standard Mitsubishi Strada is priced at Php 1,670,000. You get to have a stylish and sporty version you can flaunt on the road.
