Ford Ranger 2.2L WildTrak 2018 officially comes out in Malaysia

The Ford Ranger WildTrak 2.2L will feature all specs and equipment from the 3.2L counterpart.

The Ford Ranger WildTrak 2.2L 2018 has finally hit Malaysian market. Following the step of its brother 3.2L WildTrak arriving earlier, this newly-launched updated Ranger T6 4x4 High Rider comes in as the 2nd Wildtrak in the line-up.

The 2.2L WildTrak will feature all specs and equipment from the 3.2L brother. That means the first time ever a 2.2L model comes equipped with Forward Collision Alert, Lane Keeping Aid, Lane Departure Warning, and Adaptive Cruise Control.

The new Ford Ranger WildTrak 2.2L 2018 will get orange stitching and leather upholstery. This contrast treatment is also picked to accent the dashboard, steering wheel and gear lever gaiter.

What’s more to expect? The new Wildtrax offers dark metallic grey elements for the exterior with taillight internals, bed rails, door handles, side air vents, wing mirrors, and the extension of the grille and bumper (all are finished in the color scheme). The grey even spread to the 18-inch 2-tone alloys made exclusively by the brand.

Standard equipment consists of a 240-volt inverter power socket, a console box, an 8-way power adjustable front seat for the driver, and an automatic system of dual-zone air-conditioning, ect. A 6-speaker SYNC 3 info system seen on the 3.2L will also be offered for the new 2.2L. Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and an 8-inch touchscreen are promised to make the model even more appealing.

Safety kit coming equipped in the new WildTrak will be brake assist, 6 air bags, hill launch assist, hill descent control, ESC, EBD, and ABS.

Speaking of the engine, the Ford Ranger WildTrak 2.2L 2018 gets support from a 2.2-liter Duratorq TDCi turbodiesel engine like XLT variants'. With the Puma powerplant is promised to put out to 158 HP and 385 Nm of torque. In addition, the new WildTrak uses a 6R80 6-speed automatic gearbox.

Ford Ranger

The 2023 Ford Ranger is a 4x4 or 4x2 pickup truck. It is the latest version of the said model, and as of its launch in the Philippine market, it has a total of eight different variants.

These are the top-spec Wildtrak 4x4, Wildtrak 4x2, Sport 4x4, Sport 4x2, XLT 4x2, XLS 4x2 AT, XLS 4x2 MT, and the entry-level XL 4x4. As of 2023, prices for these trims ranges from php 1,213,000 to Php 1,910,000.

Under the hood of the new Ranger are two-different diesel mills. For the Wildtrak 4x4, it uses a 2.0-liter biturbo that can churn out 210 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque. It is also the sole trim that uses a 10-speed automatic tranny.

The rest of the all-new Ranger then gets a 2.0-liter turbodiesel that can produce up to 170 horsepower and 405 Nm of torque. Only the XLS 4x2 and the XL 4x4 may come with a six-speed manual. The other non-biturbo trims then use a six-speed automatic.

Size-wise, the all-new 2023 Ranger is 5,370mm long, 1,918mm wide, and 1,884mm in height. They also offer a wheelbase length of 3,270mm, and a ground clearance of 235mm.

Locally, the 2023 Ford Ranger faces the Toyota Hilux, Nissan Navara, Mitsubishi Strada, Isuzu D-Max, Mazda BT-50, etc.
