Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) is on a roll this year as it launches new models one after another. Since introducing the new Wigo last June 2020, TMP brought in the updated versions of the Vios, Hilux, and the Fortuner. Moreover, the brand introduced the Corolla Cross as its challenger in the competitive crossover segment.
Now, before everyone gets to enjoy this year’s Noche Buena, TMP officially launched the 2021 Yaris hatchback featuring a restyled exterior and a revamped interior. It still comes with the same engine options that can either be a 1.5-liter or 1.3-liter gasoline. But, the Yaris has now integrated with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility.
The 2021 Toyota Yaris
Since the Yaris is the hatchback sibling of the Toyota Vios, it has a similar front end design. The 2021 Yaris is fitted with a large mesh-type grille as well as sharp-looking headlights that come in LED on the top-spec 1.5 S variant. The headlights are also integrated with daytime running lights, while the fog lamps are now LED. Toyota’s subcompact hatchback also gets a new bumper design, which is arguably better-looking as compared to the outgoing model.
The 2021 Yaris gets a new set of alloy wheels
Turning at the side, the 2021 Toyota Yaris is characterized by sharp lines. It sits on a new set of 15-inch two-tone machine-finish alloy wheels across all variants. The new Yaris also features a glossy piano black accent that complements its exterior paint and chrome door handles.
2021 Toyota Yaris has a sporty rear
The rear is also fitted with a distinctive piano black accent that is placed between the taillights. The rear bumper, on the other hand, adds muscle to the sporty looking Toyota Yaris. This subcompact hatchback also has a spoiler and a shark-fin antenna.
Inside, the 2021 Yaris has a dark interior theme with silver and glossy black accent. It has the same interior layout as the outgoing model but the 2021 Yaris gets a new seat design. Speaking of which, the top-spec 1.5 S Yaris variant has leather seats with blue stitching. In addition, the Yaris’ 6.75-inch infotainment touchscreen now comes standard with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto across all variants. This means that you can seamlessly connect your smartphone to the Yaris’ infotainment system.
Interior of the 2021 Toyota Yaris
In terms of safety features, the 2021 Toyota Yaris is equipped with seven airbags as standard. It also has Vehicle Stability Control, Hill-Start Assist, Anti-Lock Brake System, among others. Of note, the 1.5 S Yaris variant has speed-sensing door locks.
Under the hood, the 2021 Yaris is powered by either a 1.5-liter or 1.3-liter gasoline engine. The 1.5-liter engine delivers 106 hp and 140 Nm of torque. On the other hand, the 1.3-liter power unit generates 98 hp and 123 Nm. Both engines are mated to a continuously variable transmission. And yes, TMP will no longer be offering the Yaris with a manual transmission.
