Last year, Typhoon Ulysses has impacted the lives of many Filipinos. Several vehicles were also affected by the typhoon which prompted Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) to roll out discounted parts and labor for affected Toyota owners.
The rubber boats and communication equipment donated by Toyota Marikina
Now, the Japanese car brand, in partnership with Toyota Marikina City, is preparing as early as today for the upcoming typhoon season by donating rubber boats and communication equipment to the local government. This shows the car brand’s support for the Filipino people during these challenging times.
Present in the turnover ceremony were Marikina City Mayor Marcelino Teodoro, Acting City Administrator Janet Obispo, Marikina Rescue 161 Head Mr. Dave David, Toyota Marikina General Manager Ms. Maria Teresa Cabellon, and other TMP representatives. All have forged a pledge of support to one another.
A successful turnover ceremony
The donated rubber boats and communication equipment can be used to save those who are stranded in different flood areas. TMP said that it is ready to reinforce the partnership between the private and public sectors so they can help each other in taking care of communities.
“Toyota Motor Philippines, and Toyota Marikina are proud to be your partner in moving Marikina’s people, the economy, and the government through the vehicles that respond to your varying needs. With this pledge of support in the form of these donations, we are also committing to be your partner in protecting lives, especially now that we are approaching the country’s typhoon season,” said TMP President Atsuhiro Okamoto.
Making the city more flood-ready
TMP has been a long partner by the country in dealing with catastrophes. Weeks before the end of 2020, TMP also pledged to raise Php 5,000,000 for the benefit of those affected by typhoon Ulysses. It is just one of the many efforts TMP accomplished to give back to the Filipino community last year.
