It’s now the model’s most affordable trim that’s equipped with an automatic transmission.

The Philippine-spec Toyota Innova has not seen an update since 2021. But while that may be the case, Toyota Motor Philippines has decided to expand its variant lineup by introducing the new Innova XE trim. As of this writing, the new variant is now up on the brand’s official website.

Slotting in between the entry-level J and the higher-spec E, the XE is now the most affordable variant equipped with a six-speed automatic transmission complete with an eco mode and power mode.

The Toyota Innova XE is priced at Php 1,375,000 or just Php 139,000 more expensive than the manual transmission Innova J. Previously, the most accessible Innova with an automatic gearbox was the Innova E which is far more expensive than the XE with its price tag of Php 1,529,000.

Other than that, the XE retains the 2.8-liter turbodiesel mill that’s standard on the Innova that makes 167 horsepower and 343 Nm of torque. Likewise, the XE uses the ladder frame chassis and rear-wheel-drive layout the Innova is known for.

On the inside, the Innova XE gets what you’d expect from an entry-level variant. It features fabric seats, a manual climate control system with knobs, and seating for up to eight occupants. It does, however, get a seven-inch touchscreen display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Safety aboard the said new Innova variant is provided by three airbags, anti-lock braking with electronic brake-force distribution, stability control, and hill-start assist. It also gets a reverse camera for easier parking.

Appearance-wise, the Innova XE gets a set of 16-inch steel wheels with plastic covers just like the entry-level J. Moreover, it lacks the LED front fog lamps that are present on the higher-spec Innova E

Available colors for the all-new trim include Red Mica Metallic, Black Metallic, Silver Metallic, and Blackish Red Mica. Of note, these are the same color options available for the higher-spec Innova E.
