Suzuki’s compact vehicles thrive in the market.

Suzuki Philippines, Inc. (SPH) continues to perform at a high level in the local automotive market with 14,445 units sold this year so far. It was recently hailed as the third best-selling car brand in the country after finishing fifth in last year’s sales race. This impressive feat can be accounted to its three top-sellers in the lineup, namely the Carry, Ertiga, and S-Presso.

Suzuki Philippines' leader in sales, the Carry

The Suzuki Carry is a commercial vehicle (CV) that has been leading the way for SPH with 2,752 units sold from January to September 2021. One can expect that the reason for the Carry’s success is the need for a business mover in the new normal. Powering the Carry is a 1.5-liter 4-cylinder gasoline engine that is capable of generating 96 hp and 135 Nm of torque.

Trailing the Suzuki Carry is the car brand’s entry to the MPV segment, the Ertiga, which posted 2,655 units sold so far. Thanks to the Ertiga’s 7-seater configuration and relatively affordable price tag, it is not a surprise why Filipino families decide to opt for this MPV. Other notable interior features include a 10-inch infotainment system with a reverse camera, sliding second-row seats, and a handful of cup and bottle holders.

The third placer on the top three sales list is SPH’s latest addition, the S-Presso, with 2,554 units sold. This small hatchback bested the Suzuki Dzire for the third place, proving why it is worth the addition to Suzuki’s Philippine lineup. It is currently offered with a 5-speed manual transmission only priced at Php 523,000.

Furthermore, SPH managed to post a steady number of 1,491 units sold for September 2021 alone. If the car brand keeps this pace, then it is expected to finish this year strong. It is poised to join Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) and Mitsubishi Motor Corporation Philippines (MMPC) in the top three best-selling car brands for 2021.
