The Velar will be the latest Range Rover to use the new turbocharged 2.0L petrol engine from the Ingenium family.
Following the trio Jaguar XE, XF and F-Pace, Land Rover will offer a new 2.0L ‘Ingenium’ petrol engine to its forthcoming Velar, joining the existing 246 hp 2.0L and the 375 hp supercharged 3.0L V6 units. Furthermore, new member of Range Rover family will also share the aluminum underpinnings with the Jaguar F-Pace.

According to Land Rover, this 2.0L 4-cylinder engine can push out 296 hp and 400 Nm of peak torque. Moreover, it features a twin-scroll turbocharger with ceramic ball bearings for less friction and a higher-flow compressor wheel, delivering 26% more air. Thanks to this, the new Velar can whir from 0-100 km/h within a brisk 6.0 seconds.

The Range Rover Velar will be responsible for filling the gap between the smaller Evoque and the Sport. It’s also the first vehicle to be fitted with two ultra-wide 10-inch touchscreen displays dubbed Touch Pro Duo. Alongside, the high-tech infotainment system is now equipped with an Intel quad-core processor, a 60GB SSD and an ultra-fast Ethernet network.

The SUV, additionally, will take on players like the Porsche Macan, BMW X4 and the Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe as well.

The Range Rover Velar is due for release this summer from $49,900 (₱ 2,508,067).
