Updated Nov 27, 2019 | Same topic: Highlights of the Week

Here's how the MPTC's preparing for the 2019 Undas.

The MPTC's preparations for this year's All Saints' Day

Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC), the private operator of the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX), Subic Clark Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX), and the Cavite Expressway (CAVITEX), is preparing for the Undas rush which is anticipated to have an earlier exodus of people on October 31, as November 1 has been declared a holiday in observance of All Saints’ Day.

MPTC also held a media briefing for their “Safe Trip Mo Sagot Ko” or SMSK, the company's motorist assistance program that provides free towing service, 24/7 roadside assistance and first aid services located in fuel stations, free wifi and phone calls, and several emergency bays for repairs and maintenance.

NLEX and SCTEX

While the buildup may not be felt in some areas, other parts like toll plazas will feel the full brunt of the increase in traffic

During this period, more patrol and monitoring teams will be deployed to handle traffic and assist motorists in need. You can check out the traffic situation on each of the major expressways through the NLEX Facebook and Twitter Page, as well as Cavitex (Official).

Traffic volume is expected to increase by 10% for the duration of the Undas season, which runs from November 1 to 4. To prepare for this, MPTC will also be opening 55 toll collecting points at the Bocaue toll barrier for those heading towards Metro Manila. Collection points will also be set up along Mindanao Ave (10), Tarlac (15), and Tipo (6).

Pre-encoded transit tickets will also be issued by some toll plazas for an easier and more seamless transaction. RFID lanes will simultaneously be made available at NLEX; six at the Bocaue barrier and five at the Balintawak barrier.

From the 24th of October to the 4th of November, MPTC will also suspend construction operations on mainline roads on Cavitex, SCTEX, and NLEX, although the company has already completed several expansion projects and toll and traffic system enhancements.

The “Safe Trip Mo Sagot Ko” program is made possible through the cooperation of MPTC, Shell, Prestone, PLDT, Maynilad, and several other media partners.
