Considering that electric vehicles (EVs) have fewer moving parts than internal combustion engine (ICE) cars, maintenance is relatively cheaper. Kia Philippines is proving this ownership aspect with the introduction of the EV6.
Kia EV6
The Kia EV6 is the company's entry into the growing EV market in the country, coming with an all-electric powertrain that promises more affordable maintenance costs.
According to Kia Philippines, you only have to spend Php 25,000 for five years when it comes to preventive maintenance service (PMS). The only parts that need replacement during that period are brake pads, brake fluid, AC filters, and wiper blades.
The EV6 offers relatively cheaper maintenance costs
According to Kia Philippines, the cost of maintenance for your typical midsize SUV will be about Php 110,000 for five years. You get to spend 77 percent less when you decide to get Kia’s all-electric compact crossover/SUV.
But that’s not all the economic benefit the Kia EV6 can bring to the table. For a range of 500 km, Kia says you would only spend around Php 800 when charging at home. Compare that to a midsize SUV, which Kia says will usually cost Php 2,400 to run the same range.
Kia is growing the Philippine EV market with the EV6
The maximum EV range is rated at 528 km. Using a 7kW AC charger, the EV6 can be fully charged in 90 minutes. It would take 50 minutes when using an 11kW AC charger. For even faster charging, a 50 kW DC fast charger and 350kW 800V DC charger will fully charge the EV in 73 minutes and 18 minutes, respectively.
Kia Philippines is offering the EV6 in one variant only, which is the GT-Line Long Range priced at Php 3,788,000. It comes with a portable charger, a 5-year or 160,000-km vehicle warranty, an 8-year or 160,000-km HV battery system warranty, 5-year free PMS, and 5-year free 24/7 Roadside assistance.
