Previewed here in the Philippines at the 2019 Manila International Autoshow by Auto Nation Group, the Jeep Compass for the model year 2020 is an American made, 4x4 crossover capable of going on rough trails whilst providing comfort and style while traveling in the city.

Recently, Jeep in India has been rolling out new variants of the new Jeep Compass model like the Trailhawk and a diesel-powered automatic variant. (You could get more info of specs, reviews, and price list of the Jeep Compass model here).

Several weeks ago, Jeep India then launched the BS6 (Indian emissions standards) compliant versions of the Compass with a significant change to their powertrains.

Jeep India says the despite the change, the horsepower outputs will still remain the same

While we will have the 2.4-liter MultiAir engine here in the Philippines, the Indians have access to numerous Compass variants like a 1.4-liter turbo mated with a 6-speed manual, a 1.4-liter turbo coupled with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic, and a 2.0-liter turbo-diesel with a 6-speed manual.

This is a vast contrast to the home market of the Jeep where manual transmissions, especially for American made cars, are disappearing. 

It also helps that FCA India Automobiles Private Limited actually has a local assembly plant for Jeep products in Ranjangaon, Maharashtra.

Will the Jeep Compass finally get released? 2020 MIAS maybe?

As we’ve said earlier, the Auto Nation Group already gave us a taste of the Jeep Compass in last year’s MIAS and that was after a month when they introduced the Jeep Wrangler 2020.

Also, there are rumors that the Gladiator might make an appearance on 2020 MIAS

With this year’s Manila International Autoshow, we’re hoping to see the official launch of the Jeep Compass 2020 as well as the long-awaited Jeep Gladiator, a very off-road capable 4x4 vehicle which is essentially the truck version of the Jeep Wrangler.

We are excited! But you know what we’re thirsting for? More Jeeps with manual transmissions!
