Honda has been always concerned about EVs. The proof is that it has rolled out a total of 4 EVs over the past year:
- Honda Clarity Fuel Cell
- Honda Clarity Plug-in Hybrid
- Honda Clarity Electric
- Honda Accord Hybrid
While the FC generation of the Civic could not own a hybrid in the fleet, the car maker has decided to let the Insight play that role to become its fifth EV.

As suggested by latest car news, our Insight promises to be a sleek luxury compact sedan featuring 5 doors and Prius’ shape.
“The new 2019 Honda Insight signals we are entering a new era of electrification with a new generation of Honda products that offer customers the benefits of advanced powertrain technology without the traditional trade-offs in design, premium features or packaging,” according to American Honda Motor’s Senior Vice President of Automobile Sales and General Manager – Mr. Henio Arcangeli Jr.
Now, let’s go into details. The Honda Insight Hybrid is expected to feature a sleek design with a wide but low stance. Accordingly, the bold front end will be done up by Honda’s iconic “flying wing” front grille flanked by LED lightings, in addition to sweeping roofline and refined character lines.

In terms of seating, the hybrid sedan will be set up with 60/40 split folding rear seats.

When it comes to powertrain, the all-new Insight will be blessed with the 3rd-gen two-motor hybrid system from Honda which includes a 1.5L Atkinson cycle mill working in tandem with an electric motor and a lithium-ion battery package (located under the rear seats). Like the Honda CR-V Hybrid and Accord Hybrid, for most cases, the Insight will only run on electric via a Sport Hybrid Intelligent Multi-Mode Drive hybrid system (i-MMD). In addition, hardware components will ensure the car decent combined gas mileage of 21.3 km/h, which is comparable with other hybrids in the market today.

- Collision Mitigation Braking System

- Traffic Sign Recognition
- Road Departure Mitigation
- Lane Departure Warning
Particularly, the EX and higher-end variants will exclusively be offered Honda LaneWatch.
