Swindon - U.K. vehicle manufacturing plant that manufactures the heated-up Honda Civic Type R will be closed because Honda wants to restructure its global manufacturing network as well as boost its commitment to electrified vehicles.
According to the latest car news, the factory will be phased out by 2021, which could affect about 3,500 workers. Mr. Katsushi Inoue - President of Honda Motor Europe and Chief Officer for European Regional Operations, Honda Motor Co., Ltd. stated that it is essential for Honda to enhance its electrification strategy and rebuild its global operations. That is why this was a hard decision for the car manufacturer in consulting its employees to understand how they might prepare for the future manufacturing network.

Besides the UK plants’ discontinuing, Honda will also stop manufacturing in Turkey by 2021. Meanwhile, all customers’ needs in UK will be served from Honda’s European Headquarters.

The 2023 Honda Civic Type R is a high-performance, compact, five-seater, front-wheel-drive liftback. In the Philippine market, it carries a standard retail price of Php 3,880,000.
