Great Wall Motor (GWM) has officially re-entered the Philippine market. This was made official, during an event held at the Bellevue Hotel on March 15, 2023.
The Haval H6
Besides formalizing its big return, the brand is also coming in hot by revealing two new upcoming products. These are the Havel Jolion and the Haval H6. Both are hybrids, and both are looking to make a mark in the ever-competitive local crossover market segment.
Do remember that GWM’s return comes a year after the brand announced its partnership with the Luxuriant Automotive Group, Inc. (LAG), with the latter being chosen as its local distributor.
The Haval Jolion
With regards to the two upcoming crossovers under GWM’s Haval sub-brand, both appear to sport stylish exterior designs that are intended to capture passenger vehicle customers with modern tastes and sensibilities. Proof of this can be seen on the H6 and the Jolion’s intricately patterned grilles, aggressive LED headlamps clusters, and sharp and angular details.
Curiously enough, both vehicles have the exact same dimensions. Specifically, both are 4,653mm long, 1,886mm wide, and 1,730mm in height.
GWM has yet to confirm the final specs for the two crossover vehicles. But, the car brand did share during the launch event that the H6 and the Jolion will be getting up to 12 advanced driver-assistive safety (ADAS) features.

Further reinforcing safety for these models are a total of 14 radars, and five exterior cameras. A 360-degree panoramic view camera will likewise be made available.
The car brand likewise shared that a nine-inch heads-up display will be fitted to these crossovers. These displays are purported to feature high readability and are configurable to use different colors.
As mentioned above, the H6 and the Jolion are both hybrid crossovers. The H6 stands as the more powerful of the two, as GWM indicated that it will be getting a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline engine paired with an electric motor. GWM says that this hybrid powertrain can then churn out up to 240 horsepower and 530 Nm of torque.

Note that the Haval H6’s output figures which were presented by GWM at the event, are the exact same output figures as the global market H6 hybrid.
The Jolion meanwhile, uses a 1.5-liter inline-4 paired with an electric motor. At the most, GWM claimed that this powertrain could produce up to 186 horsepower and 375 Nm of torque.
That’s markedly less beefy than the H6’s output numbers, but those are still considerable figures for a crossover model. The brand also shared that these two models will be using a dedicated hybrid transmission.
Inside the H6
By further referencing the global versions of the H6 and Jolion, the upcoming Philippine-spec versions might also get four driving modes, an electronic parking brake, and even launch control.
Pricing and available variants for both the Haval H6 and the Haval Jolion are yet to be released by GWM. But if you’re looking forward to these two Haval models, then it is highly likely that they will be on display at the upcoming 2023 Manila International Show (MIAS) that’s scheduled to commence in April. GWM, after all, is one of the car brands that will be making an appearance at the said event.
