CAVITEX C5 Link flyover extension to open soon

The Metro Pacific Tollway Corp. said that construction of the CAVITEX C5 Link expressway is in full swing. The recent update announced by the toll company is the upcoming completion of the CAVITEX C5 Link flyover extension. 

CAVITEX C5 Link flyover extension is now 95 percent complete

The Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) inspected the said flyover extension together with the representatives from the Cavitex Infrastructure Corporation (CIC), and the Philippine Reclamation Authority (PRA). MPTC shared that the CAVITEX C5 Link flyover extension will be opening soon as it is now 95 percent complete. 

The 1.6-km flyover extension will be connecting to the now operational 2.2-km CAVITEX C5 Link flyover, which traverses the cities of Taguig and Parañaque. Upon completion, the flyover extension is expected to provide more convenient access for motorists bound to the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) from Merville and vice versa.      

TRB Executive Director Atty. Alvin Carullo said that the CAVITEX C5 Link will serve around 15,000 motorists upon completion. It is also intended to cut down travel time from SLEX to Pasay, Taguig, and Parañaque.

“We are pleased to see the progress of the CAVITEX C5 Link. We look forward to it serving an estimated 15,000 motorists, helping lessen their travel time from SLEX to Pasay, Taguig and Paranaque, thereby helping decongest some of our local roads” said Carullo.

Once completed, it is expected to provide more convenient access to and from SLEX and Merville

The TRB and MPTC also discussed the traffic management plan for the area once the CAVITEX C5 Link flyover extension opens to the public. The toll company said that it will be installing “traffic signalization and signages” to make traffic flow better. It will also be coordinating with the local authorities to manage traffic for motorists bound to the expressway, and to those vehicles that will traverse the service road.   

CIC President and General Manager Raul Ignacio are urging motorists to have their cars installed with an Easytrip RFID for seamless travel and to avoid long queues at cash lanes.  

The MPTC added that the construction for the CAVITEX R1 Expressway to Sucat Interchange is in full swing. As of this writing, it has more than 30 percent completion status. Once completed, travel time between CAVITEX R1 to Sucat will be reduced by around 30 minutes, bypassing traffic from Sucat Road and Quirino Avenue.

The MPTC added that the entire CAVITEX C5 Link will be completed in 2023, and it is said to benefit more than 50,000 motorists. More importantly, it is expected to reduce travel time from CAVITEX to Makati, Taguig, and Pasay to under 45 minutes. It is also said to help decongest EDSA, MIA Road., Roxas Boulevard and other major thoroughfares.
