The increase was granted following the approval of the Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) of the 2011 and 2014 contractual tariff adjustments toll petitions of CIC and the Philippine Reclamation Authority (PRA). Phases 1 and 2 enhancement works done in CAVITEX R-1 Expressway are also part of the toll rate adjustments.

Under the approved petitions, a Php 4.62 VAT-exclusive rate per kilometer will be implemented for Class 1 vehicles. Meanwhile, Class 2 and Class 3 vehicles will get a rate per kilometer of Php 9.24 and Php 13.86, respectively. See the list of new toll rates below:

  • Class 1 – Php 33
  • Class 2 – Php 67
  • Class 3 – Php 100

For reference, the outgoing CAVITEX toll rates are as follows: Php 25 for Class 1, Php 50 for Class 2, and Php 75 for Class 3.

The said enhancement works include the completion of asphalt overlay along the entire stretch of CAVITEX, provision of the Pacific flyover and left turn facility, bridge, widenings, and its regular heavy maintenance programs. With these, motorists traversing the said expressway can enjoy safe and convenient travel.

The new CAVITEX toll rates

Upon the implementation of the new toll rates, public utility vehicle (PUV) operators and drivers will be affected by the increase. The soaring fuel prices also impact the lives of those working in the transport sector. This is why CAVITEX will roll out a rebate program that allows them to pay the old rates for the next three months.

The CAVITEX isn’t the only toll road to get increased toll rates as the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) will adjust its rates starting May 12 as well. Both the CAVITEX and NLEX are under the Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC) which uses Easytrip RFID along its expressways.
