The Icon is a uniquely-designed boat developed in collaboration with boat maker Tyde. With a length of 13,150 mm, the Icon takes up the shape of a prism, enabling a width of 4,500 mm that creates a spacious entrance into the luxurious lounge.

This Bimmer boat’s passengers enjoy a lounge area with carpets, angled glass doors, and six 360-degree rotating chairs with a tablet-based infotainment system within reach. The command station has a 32-inch touchscreen display with 6k resolution for information visualization and digital interaction.

For a fuller experience, the craft is designed with an onboard soundscape delivered by the Dolby Atmos system, which was made possible with the help of double Academy Award winner Hans Zimmer. He has also created sci-fi-like sounds inside electric BMW models including the i7 and iX.

As mentioned earlier, the Icon is part of the Bavarian automaker’s sustainability campaign. That said, the boat uses an all-electric powertrain consisting of two 100 kW electric motors which are then fed by six 240 kW batteries from the BMW i3.

Regarding powertrain capabilities, the boat has a range rated at approximately 100 km and can get up to a top speed of 55 km/h. It then gets foiling technology, which ensures smooth sea travel by eliminating the generation of waves or a wake.

“The craft produced on the basis of the Icon will accelerate the cause of emission-free luxury mobility on water and open up a whole new segment. Their mission will be to inspire CO2-free water-bound mobility – without polluting the environment, without any noise, but with comfort turned up to the max,” said BMW in a press release.

The Icon may look like a concept but it is a fully production-ready boat, ready to take water-bound travel up a notch. The German car brand, however, didn’t say just how much one has to fork out for this stylish-looking vessel.
