Catch the world’s most powerful SUV run at the Bahrain GP this weekend.

In the world of Formula One (F1), there is no place for the slow. This is why Aston Martin has assigned the DBX707 as the racing series’ official medical car.

The Aston Martin DBX707 joins F1 as a medical car

The Aston Martin DBX707 is regarded as the fastest SUV in the world thanks to its 697-hp twin-turbocharged V8 that’s paired with a new 9-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT). As such, the DBX707 is said to be a perfect fit for the role, making sure to be on time when medical assistance is needed.

“DBX707 is the perfect vehicle for the critical role as an Official FIA Medical Car of Formula 1, providing the performance and punch required for the world’s greatest racing circuits, in addition to the flexibility and space required by the sport’s official and medics,” said Aston Martin Chief Technology Officer.

At the start of every race, you will see the medical car lurking in the background. The first turn on the first lap is considered the most accident-prone period of a race after all. This is because all 20 F1 cars are racing closely side-by-side after launching from the starting grid.

With the Aston Martin DBX707’s potent engine and fast-shifting wet-type DCT, the SUV can get into action in no time. F1’s global tire partner, Pirelli, has also fitted the DBX707 with specially-developed P Zero tires, helping it put the power down on the track better.

Inside, the medical car comes with FIA-approved racing seats, each with a six-point racing harness. Passengers will have access to communications from Race Control, as well as see the FIA Marshalling system, biometric data from the F1 drivers, and live television images. Piloting the DBX707 is FIA Medical Car driver Alan van der Merwe.

“The updated FIA Medical Car is an impressive step forward and ensures that we will keep pace in the high-speed world of Formula 1. It’s definitely going to allow the Medical Car team to fully focus on the job and respond quickly and safely during any on-track deployments. It’s great to be heading into a new season well-prepared and well-equipped,” said Merwe.

But this season will see the reworked Aston Martin DBX707 on track along with the British automaker’s Vantage as F1’s official safety car. The first 2023 Grand Prix will start on March 5 at the Bahrain International Circuit.

The grid is also joined by two Aston Martin F1 cars, with three-time podium finisher Lance Stroll and two-tone world champion Fernando Alonso onboard. Note that this year is a special one for the team as it is celebrating the brand’s 110th-anniversary milestone.
