It bests rivals such as the Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid and the Urus.

We now live in an era where SUVs can compete closely with sports cars in terms of performance. Aston Martin is taking up a notch with the introduction of the DBX707. It has been reworked by the British marque to become the most powerful luxury SUV, outpowering even the renowned sports cars we know of today.

In the words of Aston Martin, the DBX707 is ‘the fastest, most powerful, best-handling, and most engaging car of its kind.’ The British luxury SUV’s new powertrain has been thoroughly revised including a few additions to propel the car brand to the pinnacle of SUV performance.

“Right from its first production, the DBX represented Aston Martin’s dynamic and design values in a way that proves not all SUVs have to conform to the same compromises. With the DBX707, we have pushed the boundaries in every area to create a car which sets new standards of performance and desirability,” said Aston Martin CEO Tobias Moers.

Exterior

But before looking at what’s under the hood, let’s get into the new exterior features first. The Aston Martin DBX707 comes with aerodynamic enhancements including a larger front grille, new air intakes, brake cooling ducts, revamped front splitter profile, a new lip spoiler on the roof wing, and an enlarged twin rear diffuser. All these are added to increase the cooling airflow to the powerful powertrain.

Aside from the performance improvements, designers also heightened the luxury side of the model. The SUV received an all-new design for its daytime running lights (DRLs), creating a more commanding presence on the road. An optional 23-inch wheel will be offered which can be finished in either textured black or satin black.

Interior

The British automaker wants to give passengers a luxurious feel the moment they get into the SUV. That said, soft-close doors are added. Sport seats come standard in the SUV, with an option for comfort seats with no additional costs. All seat options are equipped with a 16-way electric adjustment including a heating function in the front and rear.

Three interior layouts will be made available, namely the Accelerate, Comfort, and Inspire Sport. The standard Accelerate features a mix of leather and Alcantara. Meanwhile, the Comfort and Inspire Sport get full semi-Aniline leather with embroidered Aston Martin wings on the headrest.

Tech & Safety

New to the Aston Martin DBX707 is a revised lower console that contains new drive mode selection switches. With this feature, the driver now has immediate control of the modes and settings instead of configuring it through the infotainment screen.

Safety-wise, the company hasn’t disclosed the exact features just yet. But looking at the Aston Martin DBX V8, the upcoming model could get six airbags and an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) which offers Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Auto Emergency Braking (AEB), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Blind Spot Warning (BSW), Lane Change Warning (LCW), among others.

Engine

The biggest story is found under the hood. A familiar 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged gasoline engine is used which now makes 900 Nm of torque and 697 horsepower, or 707 brake horsepower, hence the name DBX707. It is 155 horsepower and 200 Nm of torque more than the DBX V8. This enhancement was made possible with the new ball-bearing turbochargers, engine calibration, and a new 9-speed wet clutch automatic transmission.

With those numbers in mind, the Aston Martin DBX707 is the most powerful luxury SUV, besting its rivals including the Lamborghini Urus and Porsche Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid which has 690 horsepower. The Dodge Durango Hellcat sure does make more at 701 horsepower, but that model is not categorized as a luxury SUV.

Pricing

Reports suggest that the price of the Aston Martin DBX707 will start at USD 232,000 (or around Php 11.9 million). That is around USD 50,000 (or around Php 2.6 million) more than the DBX V8.
