The iOS 14 update will bring a wide variety of changes to Apple CarPlay users. It will provide drivers with features that will help them with their daily drives and road trips.
The 2021 BMW 5 Series will be the first car to support the Apple CarKey
Starting off with the Apple CarKey. This feature basically unlocks and starts your car without the use of a key. Drivers will just have to place their iPhones or Apple Watch near the door handle and the car door opens. As of now, it uses a near field communication (NFC) so unlocking the car must be done in close proximity.
The Apple CarKey access can also be shared with up to five individuals through a message. As promising as it sounds, the Apple CarKey is currently available only in the new 2021 BMW 5 Series.

Siri gets an update with a new interface. It pops up on the infotainment screen in a futuristic manner – a subtle change but gives a fresh vibe to drivers.
Other Siri updates include the ability of the drivers to send their estimated time of arrival (ETA) and send voice messages to contacts. With this, the drivers can focus more on the road and reduce the risk of an accident.
The Maps received a significant amount of updates in iOS 14. When using Maps, drivers will now be notified of red light or speed traffic cameras as they drive. Maps will also provide information to drivers about zones that are highly congested so drivers can plan their route more efficiently.
