Do you think that Toyota should make this open-top Supra concept a reality?

Toyota surprised Supra fans last year when the Japanese carmaker introduced the 2020 GR Supra Heritage Edition at the 2019 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show. It boasts its improved 500-plus hp output capabilities and other performance enhancements.

The Supra Heritage Edition is a tribute to the iconic MKIV many car enthusiasts know about. The MKIV, or fourth-generation Supra, was introduced in 1993 and ended in 2002. Design cues from the MKIV are seen in the 2020 GR Supra Heritage but revamped in a more modern approach.

Now, it seems like Toyota is not done improving the legacy of the Toyota Supra as it introduces the new 2021 GR Supra Sport Top concept. According to Toyota, the GR Supra Sport Top is heavily inspired by the 2020 GR Supra Heritage Edition. But this time, the Supra Sport Top will provide a top-down feature.

Similar design cues from the MKIV can be seen on the 2021 Supra concept

However, the Supra Sport Top concept is not as ‘performance-enhanced’ as the Heritage Edition. Instead, the GR Supra Sport Top is more for those customers who want an MKIV open air laid back driving experience.

Under the hood, the 2021 GR Supra Sport Top concept is powered by a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six engine from BMW that’s capable of generating 382 hp and 499 Nm of torque. Toyota said that the GR Sport Top concept can go from zero to 100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds.

A great tribute to the legendary MKIV

The GR Supra Sport Top got some design updates to slightly set it apart from the Heritage Edition but still pay homage to the legendary MKIV. It comes with a black piano-finish over the top to make it look more appealing while the removable roof is stored in its trunk.

Overall, the GR Supra Sport Top concept is a great follow up to the well-received Heritage Edition last year. So, do you think that Toyota should make this open-top Supra concept a reality?
