In August 2017, the sedan version of the Yaris hatchback, dubbed “Toyota Yaris Ativ 2018” was launched in Thailand. The sedan Yaris is also an eco-car like its hatchback counterpart. It is powered by a 1.2L 3NR-FE powertrain producing 85 hp and 108 Nm of torque, combined with a CVT automatic transmission.
Compared to the Vios launched in our neighboring Malaysian market, the Ativ measures 30 mm larger and 15 mm longer with 4,425 mm in length, 1,730 mm in width and 1,475 mm in height. Meanwhile, both the Yaris Ativ and the Vios own equal wheelbase of 2,550 mm, which makes the former almost identical in dimensions to the popular Toyota Vios. Therefore, it is said that similar to the case in Singapore, the Yaris Ativ 2018 should hit the Malaysian market as the next-gen Toyota Vios 2018.
