A video released by Nissan has shown the Nissan Terra 2018 is ready for toughest terrain.

No longer testing their fans’ patience with only teasers and spy shots, Nissan has officially shown the Nissan Terra 2018 to the world with its first on-location photos.

The Nissan 7-seater is expected to go head to head with the Mitsubishi Montero Sport, Ford Everest, Chevrolet Trailblazer, Isuzu MU-X, and Toyota Fortuner in the PPV-saturated market.

Ashwani Gupta, Nissan's Senior Vice President of the Light Commercial Vehicle Business claimed that the Nissan Terra still keep the precious SUV heritage and adds more upgrades to meet Asian customers’ need which is the excellent performance of their refined frame cars. He added the Nissan Terra is considered is the Nissan Patrol’s descendant which is initially made for military use and police only.

Also seen by the studio shots before, the on-location shots of the Nissan Terra show its bold design thanks to the really tall stance, muscular haunches, and shape, Boomerang LED headlamps and V-motion grille characteristic of the brand. Nissan makes sure to bring out one of the highest ground clearance models in the class (up to 225 millimeters). The car also comes with a very tall outright.

Getting much slyting cues from the Nissan Navara, the Nissan Terra 2018's strong design is supported by the ladder-frame chassis and the 5-link coil-spring rear suspension used in the Navara. There will be equipment of the 4-wheel drive powerplant in some models, which foretells the coming of a rugged, authentic, and tough drive every time getting off the road.

A video released by Nissan has shown the Terra is ready for the toughest terrain. As can be seen from the video, there are signs of the Patrol hiding behind that performance.

Pedro Deanda, Terra’s Chief Product Specialist of Nissan, said in a statement that they are doing their utmost to bring all the history and knowledge of the Patrol to this project in order to build a truly capable car.

It won’t be long till the day the Nissan Terra 2018 is showcased to the public. The world premiere of this 7-seater is set to take place at this year's Beijing Auto Show just in a few weeks from now. It is announced by Nissan that a QR25 gasoline will come equipped in the Chinese-spec Terra, cranking out 252 Nm of torque and 180 PS. The bad news is that it is only a five-seater vehicle while other markets may be offered with 7-seaters as well.

The brand also disclosed the Nissan Terra will come available in other Asian countries later this year and chances are these models will all come standard with turbodiesels we have seen in the Navara.

Nissan Terra

The Nissan Terra is a midsize, seven-seater SUV. In the Philippines, this model has a total of six variants, the Terra EL, VE, VL 4x2, and VL 4x4, Sport 4x2, and the Sport 4x4. Currently, Nissan Terra 2023 Philippines price ranges from Php 1,709,000 to Php 2,459,000. 

The Philippine-spec Terra exclusively uses a 2.5-liter inline-4 turbodiesel engine for all of its trims. At maximum, this engine can churn out 187 horsepower and 450 Nm of torque. Only the VL and Sport has a 4x4 version, while the rest are rear-wheel-drive. In turn, only the entry-level Terra EL can come with a six-speed manual gearbox. The rest of the Terran trims then utilizes a seven-speed automatic transmission. 

Size-wise, the Nissan Terra has a length of 4,900mm, a width of 1,865mm, and a height of 1,865mm. It also has a wheelbase length of 2,850mm, as well as a ground clearance of 225mm. 

Locally, the 2023 Nissan Terra competes against the likes of the Toyota Fortuner, Mitsubishi Montero Sport, Isuzu mu-X, Ford Everest, Maxus D90 among others.
