Would you like the 7-seater Geely Xingyue L here in the Philippines?

Updated Apr 20, 2021 | Same topic: Automotive Industry Updates

It was recently launched at the 19th Auto Shanghai Show.

SUVs are becoming more popular these days due to factors such as the generous space they offer especially for big families, truck-like toughness and reliability, as well as better driving visibility. Various car brands have put up flexible payment schemes so these large vehicles are more attainable than ever.

This was the case when the Geely Okavango entered the Philippine market last November 2020. The 7-seater SUV became such a hit to Filipino car buyers that it already surpassed its 5-seater compact crossover sibling, the Azkarra, in terms of sales last year. Take note, the Okavango only joined the lineup two months before the end of the year.

If opportunities like this present themselves, one can think that Sojitz G Auto Philippines (SGAP) should take advantage to further expand Geely’s business network in the country. Well now, the Chinese car brand can add another 7-seater SUV codenamed KX11, now more formally known as the Xingyue L. It was launched at the 19th Shanghai International Automobile Show which runs from April 19 to 28, 2021.

What Geely is most proud about on the 7-seater Xingyue L are the vehicle’s advanced technologies which aim to innovate user experience in automobiles. Some of these features include 5G internet connection, an intelligent digital cabin, advanced safety features, and the application of automated technology.

Should this 7-seater arrive in the country?

To back the brand’s ambitious vision for the future technologies of its automobiles, Geely has invested more than 100 billion yuan (Php 742,877,044) in Research and Development (R&D). The investment is expected to improve Geely’s new energy technologies, vehicle networking, intelligent driving, shared mobility, in-vehicle chips, low-orbit satellites, and even flying cars.

As of this writing, SGAP has no word on whether it will add the Geely Xingyue L to its Philippine lineup. But with the growing popularity of SUVs in the country and the well-rounded design and features the 7-seater SUV offers, there is a good chance that we might see this running around on Philippine roads in no time.

Know more about Geely Okavango 2024

Geely Okavango

The Geely Okavango 2023 is the first seven-seater from Geely Philippines for the Philippine market, which also makes it the biggest model in the lineup so far. Its quirky name was taken from the Okavango Delta, one of the Seven Natural Wonders of Africa and the 1,000th World Heritage Site recognized by UNESCO. Despite its unibody platform, Geely’s third model for Filipino customers is actually longer and wider than mainstream contenders in the truck-based midsize SUV category, measuring 4,835mm long, 1,900mm wide, and 1,785mm high. Ground clearance, however, is at a rather low 194mm.

The Geely Okavango’s price Philippines ranges from Php 1,523,000 for the base Comfort variant to Php 1,765,000 for the range-topping Urban Plus. Rivals in its segment include the Toyota Fortuner, Mitsubishi Montero Sport, Nissan Terra, Isuzu D-Max, and Ford Ranger
