Automobili Lamborghini is taking a step further into the electrification era with the introduction of the Revuelto.
Lamborghini Revuelto
The Lamborghini Revuelto is a plug-in HPEV (High Performance Electrified Vehicle) that succeeds the Aventador in the flagship seat. While the Lamborghini Sian is the brand’s first-ever hybrid model, the Revuelto is its first series-production hybrid, coming with high-performance refinements from the front to the back.
“The Revuelto is a milestone in the history of Lamborghini and an important pillar in our Direzione Cor Tauri electrification strategy,” said Lamborghini Chairman and CEO Stephan Winkelmann.
Exterior
When it comes to the exterior, the Lamborghini Revuelto is based on a new aeronautics-inspired chassis called monofuselage, which predominantly uses carbon fiber. In comparison to the Aventador, Lamborghini says that the chassis of the Revuelto is 10 percent lighter, achieving the brand’s best-ever weight-to-power ratio of 1.75 kg/CV.
The Revuelto continues the brand's V12 line
Guided by a new design language called Space Race, the brand’s signature Y-shaped daytime running lights (DRLs) also seen in the Sian highlights the front end. According to the Italian car maker, the new design increases the Revuelto's front aerodynamic load by 33 percent and the rear load by 74 percent over its predecessor.
Bridgestone is the tire partner of Lamborghini for the hybrid supercar. The bespoke Potenza Sport tires are available in either a combination of 20-inch front and 21-inch rear wheels, or 21-inch front and 22-inch wheels.
Interior
The interior features a more modern appeal with the three-screen setup on the dashboard. These include a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, an 8.4-inch infotainment screen, and a 9.1-inch screen in front of the passenger that displays driving information such as the speed and selected gear.
Interior of the Revuelto
Thanks to the new chassis, the Revuelto has 84 mm more legroom than the Aventador. Meanwhile, the roof design allowed 26 mm more headroom than the Aventador Ultimae. Storage compartments are installed under the center dashboard and between the two seats, with a cup holder built into the passenger-side dash.
Tech & Safety
Like other modern cars, the infotainment system can evolve over time with the integrated over-the-air software update system. The updates will cover not only the infotainment system but also the instrument panel and passenger display. Owners can also monitor and control the vehicle using the Unica app.
Lighter, faster, and smarter
The Italian automaker is implementing a complete ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) for the first time. Included in the ADAS package are Active Lane Departure Warning (ALDW), Lane Change Warning (LCW), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), and Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA).
Engine & Powertrain
Now on to the main event, which is the hybrid powertrain. The Lamborghini Revuelto is powered by a familiar 6.5-liter V12 naturally-aspirated engine with an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT). But this power unit is the new L545 engine, which is said to be the automaker’s lightest and most powerful 12-cylinder mill.
It uses a V12 plug-in hybrid setup
Lamborghini fitted a 3.8kWh lithium-ion battery and three electric motors in the powertrain, two at the front and one at the rear, completing an all-wheel-drive setup that enables electric torque vectoring. The engine itself makes 814 horsepower and 725 Nm of torque. But with the hybrid assistance, the total output clocks in at 1,001 horsepower, with each front motor producing 350 Nm of torque.
Lamborghini says that the Revuelto can go from zero to 100 km/h in 2.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 350 km/h. It also has a claimed all-electric range of around 10 km, which can be recharged directly by the V12 engine in just six minutes.
A new era for Lamborghini
The brand hasn’t put out the official pricing for the Revuelto just yet. But considering the addition of new advanced technologies and a hybrid setup, one can expect the hybrid supercar to sit above the Lamborghini Aventador price point of around USD 500,000 (or about Php 27 million).
