Two one-off models carry the last Lamborghini naturally aspirated V12s.

As Lamborghini joins the inevitable march towards electrification, the automaker pays a final tribute to the engine that cemented its legacy by releasing two models: the Invencible coupe and Auténtica roadster.

Limited to a single example each, both cars mark the last time that a naturally aspirated 6.5-liter V12 is mounted longitudinally just ahead of the rear wheels. This power unit delivers 769 horsepower and 720 Nm of torque to all four wheels, paired with a 7-speed independent shifting rod (ISR) automatic gearbox.

“The V12 engine is one of the pillars of our history and our marque’s success,” said Automobili Lamborghini Chairman & CEO Stephan Winkelmann. “As we head towards embracing a new era of hybridization at the heart of our Cor Tauri (heart of the bull) strategy, this is the Lamborghini way of celebrating the naturally aspirated V12 with two one-off vehicles that perfectly represent our concept of excellence in personalization.”

Lamborghini Auténtica

Penned by the Lamborghini Centro Stile design studio, both the Invencible and Auténtica possess design cues from the Sesto Elemento, Reventón, and Veneno. A carbon fiber monocoque frame lifted from the Aventador is enhanced with full carbon bodywork, dominated by the automaker’s trademark hexagon motif.

The Invencible coupe features Rosso Efesto bodywork with carbon sills and door frames, accompanied by Rosso Mars brake calipers hidden inside single-nut alloys with carbon fiber fairings. For the Auténtica, the Grigio Titans exterior hue surrounds the open cockpit’s twin domes with integrated rollbars, while two fins flank the motorsport-derived rear wing.

Lamborghini Invencible interior

Both models share the same interior, with differences only in materials and color palettes

Clean lines are the norm in each of the cars’ identical interiors, with no head unit to be found on the minimalist dashboard. A set of 3D-printed air vents jut out from the leather surface, cooling the occupants who are surrounded by an abundance of carbon fiber.

The Invencible utilizes Rosso Alala leather and Nero Cosmus Alcantara for the interior, while the Auténtica’s cabin is rendered in two-tone Nero Cosmus and Grigio Octans Alcantara.

“We have created two one-off cars with their own unique character, inspired by track days and the high-octane circuit environment,” states Lamborghini design chief Mitja Borkert, adding that these showcase the automaker’s “maximum creativity” that draws on its unique design heritage.

Lamborghini V12

The current V12 introduced on the Aventador will be replaced by an all-new version with plug-in hybrid assist

Even as the Invencible and Auténtica already have two owners waiting, Lamborghini will not abandon the V12 entirely as the next iteration of the engine will share space with a plug-in hybrid system. This will be used on the upcoming replacement to the Aventador, which previously introduced the Raging Bull’s second-generation V12 in 2011.
