Aston Martin now announces that this is the first time the brand co-operates with Mercedes to reveal the Aston Martin DB11 V8.
The British manufacturer has decided to expand the DB11 range along with a turbocharged V8 powertrain option which is widely used in the car market at the moment.
There are several rumors circulating about that Aston Martin could have used AMG fettled powertrains since 5% of the brand’s stock were purchased by Mercedes parent company Daimler AG. Unsurprisingly, the new engine now is part of the technical coordination between Aston Martin and the Daimler Group.
The new model is equipped with AMG’s trusty twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8, similar to other Mercedes-AMG products. Moreover, Aston Martin has also re-calibrated to fit alongside the character of the DB11 which includes a new air intake, exhaust system and wet sump.

Although the engine produces 503bhp with 675Nm of torque which is less than 97bhp and 18lb ft when compared with the V12 powered DB11, the car’s performance is still totally healthy. In addition, the all-new car can hit 60 miles per hour in four seconds dead, just one-tenth slower the V12. Meanwhile, top speed is 187mph.
More importantly, the AMG-sourced V8 is significantly lighter than V12 due to cutting 253 pounds off the DB11’s nose. Besides, thanks to the combination between new engine mounts and a slimline wet sump system, the mill could be mounted lower in the car.
Normally, the DB11 V8’s interior should include the same trim options and equipment with V12. Outside, the new engine gets darker headlamp bezels, a pair of hood vents instead of four and a unique alloy wheel finish.

“The DB11 is the most complete and sophisticated car Aston Martin has ever made,” Aston Martin Boss Andy Palmer stated.
“Now, with this new V8 engine option we have broadened its appeal by offering a car that’s more affordable while still blessed with the exceptional performance and memorable character that sets Aston Martin apart from its rivals. I’m particularly proud that this car is the first to receive an engine supplied by our technical partner, Mercedes-AMG. Not least because thanks to the nature of our relationship with AMG we have been given complete freedom to tailor this exceptional power unit so that it meets the particular needs and demands of an Aston Martin.” he said.
The new V8 powered DB11 will have the price starting from £144,900 to £13,000 less than the price tag of the V12 model.
