GAC Motor Philippines has officially launched the all-new GS8 in the country.
All-new GAC GS8
The all-new GAC GS8 is the midsize crossover’s second-generation iteration. Entering as GAC Motor Philippines’ flagship model, the 2023 GS8 aims to cater to those in the market who are looking for a premium 7-seater vehicle.
“The all-new GS8 builds on its success as GAC Motor’s flagship SUV with its complete package of style, quality, reliability, and safety. It has been masterfully designed to exude confidence on the road, making it the perfect match for customers seeking distinction and refinement in their SUV,” said GAC Motor Philippines Brand Head Jun Cajayon.
Exterior
From the get-go, the second-generation GAC GS8 exudes unmistakable SUV styling complemented with futuristic design cues. Chief among these is the grille that emphasizes the massive-looking proportions of the vehicle. It is flanked by LED headlights and daytime running lights (DRLs).
One rugged-looking vehicle
Adding sportiness to the finish are the GS8’s 20-inch aluminum alloy wheels, dual chrome exhaust pipes, and a boxy body with sharp character lines. The company is offering the model to the local market in four colors: Ink Seal Green, Crystal White, Moonlight Grey, and Elegant Black.
Interior
The premium approach is underscored further inside as the new GAC GS8 welcomes passengers with its ‘finely crafted’ leather seats with diamond stitching. Both the driver and front passenger get to benefit from power-adjustable seats with memory functions.
Interior of the new GS8
Taking the cabin ambiance up a notch are features such as a panoramic sunroof and intelligent ambient lighting. Other interior bits include a leather-wrapped multifunctional steering wheel with paddle shifters, an electrochromic rearview mirror, and three-zone automatic air control.
Tech & Safety
Slotted into the center console is a massive 14.6-inch infotainment touchscreen with phone mirroring capabilities. This is paired with a wireless phone charger and Bluetooth, completing the hands-free multimedia experience on the go. The cabin also comes with a 7-inch digital instrument cluster and four USB Type-A ports.
The GS8 boasts ADAS features
Apart from standard safety features such as multiple airbags, the Chinese midsize crossover also offers an advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) system. It includes Adaptive Cruise Control, Autonomous Emergency Braking, Lane Departure Assist, and HD Surround Vision Parking System, among others.
Engine & Performance
Under the hood is a 2.0-liter Turbo GDI (gasoline direct injection) engine capable of generating 248 horsepower and 400 Nm of torque. It sends power exclusively to the front wheels via an Aisin 8-speed automatic transmission, which is now in its third generation version.
Turbocharged four-banger under the hood
As mentioned earlier, the GAC GS8 is a crossover despite its heavy SUV styling. It is underpinned by the GPMA-L (GAC Global Platform Modular Architecture) unibody platform. Moreover, the chassis uses McPherson Type Independent Suspension and Multi-link Beam Independent Suspension for the front and rear, respectively.
Price
GAC Motor Philippines is offering the 2023 GS8 with an introductory price of Php 2,298,000. Take note that the introductory price provides a special discount of Php 100,000 valid until March 31, 2023, only.
Looking tough and ready yet refined
The all-new GAC Empow has also made its way to our shores alongside the GS8. Both GAC models are offered a 5-year warranty on parts and services.
