The new Toyota Supra 2019 is selling like hotcakes in Japan

Updated Apr 12, 2021 | Same topic: Highlights of the Week

The orders for the all-new Toyota Supra 2019 sports coupe are fully booked in Japan.

Car enthusiasts specifically Toyota guys all around the world have waited for a very long time for the return of the legendary Toyota Supra. Three months ago, the new Supra made with some help from BMW, has been released much to the excitement of everyone.

Consequently, the Toyota Supra 2019, at least in the land of the rising sun has enjoyed such a massive success that supply can barely keep up with the gigantic demand. So one might be right to say that 2019 has been up to the current time, a great year for the Japanese car company.

For the Toyota Supra RZ, the top spec variant; Toyota has revealed that orders for the said vehicle has already been fully booked and the allocation for the said sports coupe for the Japanese market at least, has already been sold out.

Since Toyota opened the floodgates for orders on March, many sources indicate that it took only a mere week for orders to be filled to the brim. In connection to this, people who are interested in the Supra in other locations may indeed have to wait a bit as there is a large potential that the global market will reflect what has been the case for the Japanese market.

According to the latest car news, the Toyota Supra 2019 comes in three variants and of now, we still have no idea which will be made available in the Philippines or when the car itself will reach our shores.

The top of the line among those three variants is the Supra RZ is equipped with the BMW B58B30 Inline-six which has about 3 liters in displacement and is tuned to crank out 335 horsepower and 365 lb. ft. of torque.

The second variant which is the SZ-R and the entry-level variant called the SZ unlike the more powerful RZ are powered instead by a 2-liter inline-4 engine and thus are tuned to make 255 hp and 194 hp respectively. The inline-4 for these two variants as you may have guesses also came from BMW.

Despite the 2019 Supra’s growing popularity, it would be prudent to note that some Toyota Supra purists might not appreciate the new Toyota Supra’s not so pure characteristics like as previously mentioned; its engine.

This is compounded by the fact that that the fifth generation Supra which the RZ, SZ-R, and SZ belong to even uses BMW naming conventions for its engines and model codes. This may come out as nitpicky to some but it is somewhat understandable due to the mythical legacy of the original Supra.

The legend returns and it's coming in hot

With such a massive demand for the new, fifth-gen Toyota Supra, we can only speculate as to when and how the sports coupe will come to the Philippines. As of now, the local Toyota isn’t even talking about the said car in any way.

No hints, no teasers nothing. But that might be a good thing as like anyone else, we here at Philkotse.com very much like surprises. What we do know as of the writing of this article, the Supra RZ is priced at about 7 million Yen. That puts in at about 3 million PHP which puts it within just slightly above the price range of the 2019 Honda Civic Type R and the Ford Mustang.
