The 2023 Suzuki Ertiga Hybrid is now out for the Philippine market, and it is positioned as a more efficient fuel-sipper than its gasoline-only counterpart.
The 2023 Suzuki Ertiga Hybrid
To further prove its fuel efficiency to would-be buyers, Suzuki PH partnered up with the Automobile Association of the Philippines (AAP) to test the all-new Ertiga Hybrid.
As per AAP’s test, the Suzuki model in question managed to return 12.54 km/liter while driving on city roads. Suzuki claims that this is 7.6 percent better than the gasoline-only, non-hybrid Ertiga.
We’ve also found that the said fuel-eco figure from APP’s own tests is quite competitive against the other locally available rival MPV models that we already drove and reviewed.
The Ertiga Hybrid uses a 1.5-liter gasoline mill paired with an Integrated Starter Generator (ISG)
For instance, the refreshed Mitsubishi Xpander returned 8.3 km/l in the city. Meanwhile, the Toyota Avanza G’s own fuel-eco numbers for city driving clocked in at 9.7 km/l at an average speed of 20 km/h. Our own fuel-economy test for the regular, non-hybrid Suzuki Ertiga, on the other hand, posted 9.5 km/liter in the city with an average speed of 14 km/h.
Do note however that the AAP did not provide the average speed with which the Ertiga Hybrid was traveling while its fuel-eco figures for city driving were taken. Furthermore, they did not state the number of individuals riding aboard the vehicle, as well as traffic conditions during the test.
Be that as it may, the AAP has had a long reputation for accuracy. As such, prospective buyers that are in the quest for a fuel-efficient family chariot might indeed get what they're looking for from the Suzuki Ertiga Hybrid.
A peek inside the Ertiga Hybrid's cockpit
There’s also Suzuki PH's assertion that the Suzuki Ertiga Hybrid qualifies for exemption from the Metro Manila number coding scheme, based on the implementing rules of the Electric Vehicle Industry Development Act (EVIDA) law.
The latter fact of course, might place the Ertiga Hybrid as a great candidate as a daily driver. Because yeah, you can literally drive it on NCR’s roads every day of the week.
If what you’ve read about the 2023 Suzuki Ertiga Hybrid appeals to you, do note that in four different variants. The GA MT entry-level trim is priced at Php 954,000, making it one of the most affordable hybrids in the Philippines right now.
