The update is now available for the Porsche Cayenne.

As automakers continue to push innovation to their infotainment systems, Porsche comes up with a first in the industry. The German automaker has updated the My Porsche App and it can now be used within Apple CarPlay.

My Porsche App with Apple CarPlay

The My Porsche App can now be accessed via Apple CarPlay

Similar to the recently-introduced NissanConnect Service in the PH-spec Nissan Almera, the My Porsche App allows users to control the vehicle using their smartphones. It is also a digital management system that lets users view the state of charge of the vehicle battery and send destinations to the navigation system.

The My Porsche App can now be controlled via Apple CarPlay on the touchscreen, as mentioned above. This makes it easier for users to navigate through the different functions such as changing radio stations, adjusting aircon settings, and managing ambient lighting. Plus, Siri has been enabled for hands-free driving. Drivers won't get the need to use their smartphones on the go, providing even safer drives.

In addition, the said functions can be combined into wellness modes including "relax", "warm up", and "refresh" via the CarPlay system.

The first model to receive the update is the Porsche Cayenne, though the German sportscar maker said that it will be made available to other models soon. For Cayenne owners who want the app, it can be activated by scanning a QR code displayed in the Porsche Communication Management (PCM).

"We are excited to further improve My Porsche App and using the capabilities of Apple CarPlay to deliver a truly enhanced customer experience," said Mattias Ulbrich, CEO of Porsche Digital and CIO of Porsche AG.

"Technology and digitization are crucial factors for the enduring fascination of our brand," added Ulbirch.

As a side note, the tech giant Apple will further improve CarPlay through the upcoming iOS 17. The update will roll out the improved SharePlay, which will allow multiple users to queue music on their smartphones in a single session. The said update will also offline use of the Maps function by downloading specific areas.
