Earlier this year, in May to be more specific, Kia Sportage 2018 has been revealed with some general information about its changes. However, the exact type of engine remains controversial till now. The Korean automaker just informed this newly restyled model would get various additions along with a 1.6L SmartStream diesel engine which is supposed to be the cleanest mill from this manufacturer.

Compared to the previous versions using 1.7L CRDi engine, this latest Sportage will have better fuel efficiency, lighter weight (by up to 18 kg) thanks to the newly developed SmartStream and ITMS (Thermal Management System) technologies.
According to the latest car updates, Kia Sportage 2018 will be sold in its home market and also Europe, coming with 2 versions of 115 PS and 136 PS. While the latter can be paired with a 7-speed double-clutch gearbox and all-wheel driving system, front wheel drive with 6-speed manual transmission is applied to both variants.

With 1 liter of fuel, this 1.6 unit can run for 16.3 km. Its CO2 emission rate range from 126 g/km to 123 g/km with 115 PS and 136 PS models respectively.
One more choice for Kia fans is its 2.0L “R” diesel engine option plus a 48-volt mild-hybrid starter-generator. This all-new Kia Sportage goes with all-wheel drive system, mated to either 6-speed MT or 8-speed AT. It can reach up to 185 PS and max torque of 400 Nm while carbon dioxide emission rate is reduced by 4% in the WLTP lab test.

The Kia Sportage 2023 Philippines is a 5-seater compact crossover that is competing in the local market in its fourth-generation version. It is still unclear as to when will the fifth-gen arrive on our shores. In the local market, its sole available variant is the GT-line, which is priced at Php 1,820,000. Under the hood, the Sportage GT-Line uses a 2.0-liter turbodiesel engine good for 182 horsepower and 400 Nm of torque. The said engine is then an eight-speed automatic gearbox.
In terms of dimensions, the Sportage is 4,480 mm long, 1,855 mm wide, and 1,655 mm. It also comes with a wheelbase and ground clearance rated at 2,670 mm and 172 mm, respectively. In the local market, the Korean compact crossover goes up against the likes of the Toyota RAV4, Honda CR-V, and Subaru Forester.
