The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) has chosen the Nissan Urvan as the platform for its brand-new fleet of emergency vehicles.
All 84 units will be distributed to several municipalities and cities around the Philippines
According to the DILG, a total of 84 Nissan Urvan units were purchased. These will then be distributed to several municipal and city fire stations.
Regions I, VIII, IX, and the Caraga Administrative Region will each get six units, while Regions II, VI, XI, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, and the Cordillera Autonomous Region will then receive five each. Regions III, X, XII, and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region will each receive four units each. Region V and VII will then get seven units each.
These will serve to boost the Bureau of Fire Protection’s (BFP) emergency response capabilities for the upcoming Christmas and New Year’s celebrations.
All of the aforementioned Urvan units are up-to-spec as Type-1 Basic Life Support Ambulances. They are all capable of allowing medical professionals, EMTs and Paramedics to provide emergency care, and are all equipped with a Negative Pressure System to stave off viruses.
Other equipment present on all 84 new Urvan Ambulances includes a radio communication device, a chest compression device, dressing and bandages, obstetrical delivery set, an immobilization device, a defibrillator, etc.
These new Ambulances are fully equipped and ready for use by BFP's emergency response units
During a simple turnover event at the BFP Headquarters at Quezon City, DILG Secretary Benhur Abalos also praised a total of 34,000 BFP fire officers who serve as first responders despite lacking the appropriate equipment and facilities.
If you are also considering the Nissan Urvan as your next ride, do note that its price currently ranges from Php 1,172,000 to Php 1,896,000. The most affordable version is the three-seater cargo version, while its top-spec trim is the Premium AT 15-seater.
All Urvan variants use a 2.5-liter turbodiesel engine that’s capable of making up to 127 horsepower and 356 Nm of torque. It is rear-wheel-drive, and it utilizes a five-speed automatic gearbox. Also notable is this Nissan van’s 195mm of ground clearance, and its body-on-frame chassis.
