Hino Motors Philippines (HMP) announced that it successfully turned over 35 of its fire trucks to various local government units (LGU) in a ceremony held at the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) National Headquarters.

The turned-over units are part of BFP’s modernization program that aims to meet the ideal ratio of one fire truck for every city or municipality. It follows the turnover ceremony held last June when the Japanese commercial vehicle manufacturer handed over 15 fire trucks to BFP.
With the firefighting units, communities can feel safer, especially now that the holiday season is fast approaching. Many households light up Christmas lights to welcome and celebrate the season during this time, which poses fire hazards.
“Through these fire trucks, which will be distributed to 35 fire stations in key cities and municipalities all over the country, we will be able to bolster the BFP’s capability to respond to fire incidents in their communities. We want to give our people a sense of safety and security,” said Interior Secretary Benjamin Abalos, Jr.

The new fire trucks feature the Hino 500 Series 1625 (FG8J), which has a 7.6-liter 6-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine that can generate 237 horsepower and 716 Nm of torque. It is connected to a 6-speed manual transmission with overdrive. To make it suited for the job, the units come with a 4,000-liter water tank and a complete set of modern firefighting instruments aligned with Philippine fire service standards.
Here is the list of deployment of the turned-over fire truck units:
- Five units for CALABARZON
- Four units each for Ilocos, Bicol, and Eastern Visayas regions
- Three units each for Central Luzon, Central Visayas, and Northern Mindanao
- Two units each for Western Visayas and Zamboanga Peninsula
- One unit each for Cagayan Valley, Davao, Caraga, and NCR (National Capital Region)
