Mitsubishi is gearing up for the 2023 Japan Mobility Show (formerly known as the Tokyo Motor Show). While the Japanese automaker has yet to reveal its entries, the teaser photo for the auto show suggests the next-generation Delica is just around the corner.

Looking at the photo, the silhouette of the mystery car has a high-riding stance, which suggests this could be an off-road capable vehicle like the Delica. It also shows six people going on most probably a hike, hinting this will feature a six-seater configuration.
After all, the current fifth-generation Mitsubishi Delica D:5 has been around for 16 years now. The minivan did receive a facelift treatment in 2019, which gave the model a front fascia similar to Mitsubishi cars like the Xpander, Montero, and Strada.
Based on the automaker’s press release, this vehicle could come with some form of electrification and an all-wheel-drive (AWD). It should also be developed to cater to adventure-spirited buyers following the brand’s booth theme, “Awaken the adventurous spirit within you. Adventures for all – anytime and anywhere.”
Current-gen Mitsubishi Delica
With that being said, Mitsubishi recalled the models that fit the theme, including the Pajero, the Delica D:5, and the Outlander PHEV. These models could make an appearance at the brand’s Japan Mobility Show booth, with the Outlander PHEV in its fourth-gen form. Currently, Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) offers the local market with the third-gen Outlander.
MMPC is open to bringing in a passenger van entry along with the L300 commercial van. While the Delica might sound like the frontrunner, this nameplate is sold mostly in the Japanese market only.
Catch what Mitsubishi has in store for eventgoers at the 2023 Japan Mobility Show happening from October 28 to November 5 this year. Hopefully, we get to see the next-gen Delica considering it is long due for a complete makeover.
