After launching the facelifted 2021 Subaru XV a couple of months ago, Motor Image Pilipinas, Inc. (MIP) has followed it up with the recent introduction of the new Subaru XV GT Edition. Of note, this is a sportier, dressed-up version of the XV, and there was also an older version paired with the previous model.

So what’s new? For starters, the XV GT features a new side skirt, different-looking bits for the front end like its front bumper garnish, and a front under spoiler. The rear was also enhanced with a roof-mounted spoiler, and bumper
garnish. And then to tie up its look, this variant of the XV then rides on a set of GT-specific wheels.
There are also some cosmetic differences to its interior. Namely, it gets leather-clad seats. For amenities and on-board tech though, the XV GT is identical to the regular XV 2.0i-S EyeSight CVT. It is still equipped with an eight-inch touchscreen headunit with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and it also has the Subaru Intelligent Drive engine management system, and the X-Mode traction control system.

For safety, it is specced out similar to the non-GT variant. It gets the Subaru EyeSight driver-assist suite of technologies, Vehicle Dynamics Control (VDC), ISOFIX child seat anchors, anti-lock braking with electronic brake-force distribution, speed-sensing auto door locks, reverse auto-tilt door mirrors, among others.
Under the hood, the new XV GT uses the same 2.0-liter Boxer engine found on the regular XV. At maximum, it can make up to 154 horsepower and 196 Nm of torque. Power is then managed by a Lineartronic continuously variable transmission (CVT), which then distributes power to all four wheels via Subaru’s Symmetrical all-wheel-drive system.

For pricing, the new Subaru XV GT carries a Php 100,000 premium over the regular XV model. That puts its price at Php 2,008,000. Then again, MIP is currently offering a hefty Php 210,000 discount to those who are reserving for the XV GT until November 30, 2021.
Is the new Subaru XV GT a nice new addition to the Subaru Philippines lineup? Do you like its sportier looks, or do you prefer the slightly quieter design of the regular XV?
