A new Mitsubishi crossover is coming

Based on the new teaser image, particularly the front lighting assembly, the Japanese automaker will likely bring out the production version of the Mitsubishi XFC concept. To recap, the concept is a subcompact crossover that debuted back in October 2022 at the 2022 Vietnam Motor Show.

Mitsubishi didn’t disclose much information about the XFC’s upcoming production version model. It did say, however, that the new model had gone through repeated testing and tuning in the road environment of the ASEAN region. The automaker assures the vehicle is capable of handling rough surfaces and roads flooded by heavy rain.

The new Wet Mode, introduced for the first time in a Mitsubishi, will be handy in tackling rainy conditions safely. It will be matched by a high ground clearance, reducing the chances of hydrolocking. Other drive modes in the XFC include Normal, Gravel, and Mud.

Mitsubishi collaborated with Yamaha for the model's speaker system

Design-wise, the new teaser images didn’t reveal significant details. But based on the concept, the presumed production version should come with rugged SUV styling with futuristic design elements including the reimagined Dynamic Shield fascia. Moving inside, the cabin might get a brighter and calmer finish.

One of the features Mitsubishi highlighted is the Dynamic Sound Yamaha Premium, a sound system made in collaboration with the renowned Japanese audio equipment manufacturer. The automaker claims the sound system can deliver a “premium, immersive sound experience, making driving even more exciting, comfortable, and enjoyable for everyone on board.”

The new Mitsubishi crossover will come out in August

Considering Mitsubishi Motor Philippines Corporation (MMPC) doesn’t have an entry into the local subcompact crossover market after discontinuing the ASX, the presumed XFC could answer the call. If it arrives on our shores, the model will go up against the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Geely Coolray, and Nissan Kicks.
