Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) has officially brought out the XFC Concept at the Newport Mall in Pasay City.

The local preview of the concept vehicle from June 16 to 18, 2023 follows its world premiere in Vietnam last October 2022. It is said to be the basis of the new subcompact crossover model for the Philippine market.

Looking at the concept car, the Japanese automaker incorporated a futuristic design into an off-road-style vehicle that sports high ground clearance and beefy rear wheel fenders. Both the front and rear fascia mirror each other, getting the same design cues for its lighting fixtures and lower bumpers.

No interior shots were included in the press release. But according to MMPC, the concept comes with a “spacious cabin area and ample cargo space providing first-class comfort and convenience to both driver and passengers” despite its subcompact nature.

Considering the size of the concept car, the model should compete against the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Geely Coolray, and Nissan Kicks upon the release of the production version.

Mitsubishi remains mum about the specs of the production version of the XFC for now. But based on previous reports, the model has been tested and tuned in the road environment of the ASEAN region, developed to combat rough surfaces and roads flooded by heavy rain.

One new feature coming to the crossover is the Wet Mode, a first for the brand. As the name suggests, the feature will be handy in tackling rainy conditions safely.

The Mitsubishi XFC Concept is slated to debut at the 30th Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show in August 2023.

During the preview ceremony, MMPC President and CEO Takeshi Hara made a huge announcement, revealing the company’s plan to launch five new models in the next five years.

“Today, we are excited to share and showcase the concept design that will define the future of the Mitsubishi Motors brand. And to further beef up our product lineup, we are introducing five new models in the next five years,” said Hara.
