If you’ve been keeping up with the news or social media, then you’ll be familiar with that hit-and-run incident involving a traffic enforcer and a white 2017 Toyota RAV4. As a result of the said incident, the owner of the said SUV is now being summoned by the LTO via a show cause order.

For those unaware, this hit-and-run case first gained traction via dashcam footage showing the said crossover SUV being signaled by the enforcer in question to stop at the Julia Vargas Ave. and St. Francis Street intersection in Mandaluyong City.

But instead of following directions, the driver instead gave the enforcer a good bump, thus causing him to lose balance. The vehicle then proceeded to run over the enforcer before leaving the area. Luckily, the victim survived, but as per the latest updates, he is now under care and has sustained a head injury. The said incident happened on June 5, 2022.

The result of this is the show cause order mentioned above. On top of that though, the LTO also placed the perpetrator’s driver’s license under a 90-day preventive suspension.

Moreover, it was found out that the person operating the said RAV4 during the incident was only the “assigned driver”. The registered owner of the vehicle was in fact the driver’s father. It was also requested by the LTO to keep the driver’s name private, but then again, it has already been making the rounds on social media since yesterday.

Furthermore, the driver of the vehicle during the incident was directed to submit a written explanation on why he should not be charged for Reckless Driving. It was then implied by PNP Director Major General Valeriano de Leon however, that the driver may also face other charges.

As per latest updates, the lawyer of the perpetrator has already communicated with authorities, and the PNP director shared that it is highly likely that they will surrender soon.
