The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has been seeing an upward trend in COVID-19 cases in the country. This is why the government agency decided to once again extend the validity of motor vehicle registration of vehicles with a plate number ending in “6.”
Another extension has been granted, this time for those with license plates ending in "6"
Vehicles with a plate number ending in “6” usually have to renew their registrations within the month of June. But with the extension, the said vehicles can now renew their MV registration until July 31, 2022. They don’t have to worry about paying a penalty fee for late registrations, as long as they carry out the renewal before the extended date.
As LTO prioritizes the safety of the motorists and its employees, the agency has implemented health and safety protocols such as the wearing of face masks and social distancing. By doing so, COVID-19 transmission within its premises can be limited, resulting in safer and more convenient transactions.
But even with the extension, LTO is still encouraging vehicles with a plate number ending in “6” to renew their MV registrations as soon as possible. This is to avoid coinciding with those having license plate numbers ending in “7” which are due for July renewal. This can cause overcrowding which will make social distancing more challenging.
Motorists are encouraged to renew ASAP to avoid late penalty fees
As of this writing, vehicles with a plate number ending in “7” have not received an extension just yet. But considering the COVID-19 situation in the country, an extension is becoming a likely scenario. Meanwhile, the validity of driver’s licenses, student permits, and conductor’s licenses expiring in June has been extended until the end of August.
Amid the challenges of the pandemic, LTO managed to open two new facilities in celebration of its 110th anniversary. One of these facilities is the Road Safety Interactive Center which aims to teach motorists about road safety. It is equipped with a 4D mini-theater, and driving simulators for 4-wheeled cars and motorcycles.
