These cover NX 250 and 350 units built between Nov. 2021 and June 2022.

Luxury automaker Lexus is issuing a recall for a number of 2022 NX 250 and 350 crossovers in major markets, including the U.S., Australia, and the Philippines. The recall announcement primarily involves a problem with the vehicles’ electronic parking brake (EPB) feature.

There is an ongoing recall for specific 2022 Lexus NX units in the U.S., Australia, and the Philippines

Lexus parent company Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) announced that NX 350 models assembled between November 15, 2021, and June 27, 2022, will need to have their Skid Control ECU reprogrammed. Located within the brake actuator assembly, the ECU could receive a false overcurrent reading of the EPB.

This will trigger a fail-safe mode that will prevent the driver from using the EPB. If the EPB is unusable, the vehicle could roll away unintentionally, increasing the risk of a crash. This recall warning was also issued in the U.S. for specific units of the 2022 Toyota Tundra full-size pickup.

A second recall for the NX 250 and 350 concerns the vehicles’ lane-tracing assist (LTA) feature. According to Lexus, the LTA’s current settings mean that the upper limit of the LTA’s steering angle could be reached earlier than expected.

The electronic parking brake on certain NX crossovers could fail to engage

“If this occurs, the system may provide a reduced level of lane centering assist than designed under certain road and vehicle conditions (e.g. curve radius, vehicle speed, etc.) and may not provide the full level of assistance required under certain conditions,” the recall announcement said.

In addition to these two recall notices, Lexus NX units sold in Australia are covered by a third announcement involving the vehicles’ car finder software. A defective Body Control Module (BCM) which controls exterior lighting operation could result in the headlamps lighting up but the rear lamps failing to do so.

For all affected vehicles, Lexus will update the software free of charge. Affected Lexus NX owners in the Philippines need only bring their units to Lexus Manila at Bonifacio Global City in Taguig to avail of the remedy free of charge.
