The panel of esteemed judges of the 2024 Women’s Worldwide Car of the Year (WWCOTY) Awards has chosen the Kia EV9 as its “supreme winner,” or the World’s Best Car for 2024.

Of note, the panel consisting of 75 motoring journalists from 52 countries has previously chosen the five best vehicles out of their respective categories.
The list of these WWCOTY finalists was released back in January 2024 and it includes the Volvo EX30 (family car), BMW 5 Series (large car), Kia EV9 (SUV), Volkswagen Amarok (4x4 & pickup), and Aston Martin DB12 (Exclusive car).
After careful voting, the judges chose the Kia-made fully electric vehicle as the penultimate winner, thus beating out the other categories mentioned above.
“This year’s election was particularly difficult due to the excellent level of all the candidates. Each of the finalists had sufficient merit to win the trophy. The Kia EV9 has won out over its rivals because it is a vehicle capable of satisfying the needs of consumers everywhere,” said WWCOTY Executive President Marta Garcia.
Other notable features of the Kia EV9 that caught the WWCOTY judges’ attention were its ability to provide good traction in harsh weather, and its user-friendly and predictable driving feel. Some judges likewise praised the fully electric Kia model for its very customizable interior which boasts 180-degree rotating seats. Others noted its family-friendly three-row cabin setup.

If one remembers, the WWCOTY Car of the Year awardee last year (2023) was the Kia Niro. Like the EV9, it is also an electric vehicle. With that said, maybe Kia has found the winning formula for making an appealing and capable crossover EV, don’t you think?
The question now is, will Kia PH roll out the EV9 for the local market? Well, the company did confirm previously that it’ll be expanding its model lineup by 2024. There’s no confirmation yet if the EV9 is one of those, so keep your fingers crossed.
